Cambridge Autumn Festival - Sun 15 April
The Imperial Romans entertained the crowds at the Cambridge Autumn Festival. Glorious weather, friendly audience, great fun - we had a lot of public interaction, with kids wanting selfies and educated adults asking if the Romans could please take over again. We commandeered a road for the Centurion to give us some drill, formations, and a charge on the crowd, and another prime spot where we gave a display of gladius swordplay. Julie the organiser put the Romans on several stints of traffic control leading the cars through the herds of kids chasing bubbles from the "bubble-man", and Lucius said that waving a Roman gladius always focused the driver's attention much better than a police baton. Afterwards to the pub where the lads dined in full seg, so that when the Romans left the crowded patrons spontaneously rose to give them a standing ovation! Good Roman way to end the summer season.
