Roman codex manuscript
The club's handmade copy of the Vergilius Romanus or Roman Vergil (Vatican City, Biblioteca Apostolica, Cod. Vat. lat. 3867) a 5th-century illustrated manuscript containing Virgil's poems the Aeneid, the Georgics, and some of the Eclogues. The 19 surviving illustrations are painted by at least two artists in a style that represents the beginning of a break with classical style. The human form becomes abstracted and flattened as the naturalistic depiction of space is abandoned.
