Tauranga Medieval Faire - January 2016
The Romans set up a military camp at the Tauranga Medieval Faire where our gladiator show was a big hit with locals as reported in the Bay of Plenty Times.
Above: Our giant Murmillo, Lucius the Damned, fights in Roman-style with over-sized scutum shield and gladius sword. A skilled fighter, he is shown using his shield to disarm his opponent who had made a cunning jab for his legs. Decebalus the Dacian fights as a Hoplomachus, armed in Greek-style with spear, small round hoplon shield and a short sword for close-quarters fighting. At this point he was dead meat, so the rudis referee halted the fight, much to the anger of Lucius, and rearmed Decebalus with his native weapon, the Dacian falx. Lucius was right to be aggrieved, because the Dacian wielded his falx to devastating effect by hooking away the giant shield leaving Lucius exposed to the longer weapon. Lucius was forced to his knees and raised his finger in missio (mercy) sign of surrender. The crowd voted for life! They appreciated his valor.
Farmers Queen Street Santa Parade - November 2015
This picture was published next day in the NZ Herald of the Romans marching down Queen Street. We were the pre-parade show to entertain the crowd with Roman drill, and a charge with drawn swords. Great fun! "Have you paid your taxes?!"

The Imperium-Romana soldiers and gladiators star in the music video "MOVE!" the best-selling single off FIRE AT WILL's debut album THE WAY OUT. Photos from this promotion can be seen here.
Samsung TV Commercial filmed on location - 2013
Imperium Romana worked on the Samsung TV Commercial (see photos in 2013 gallery). This ad launched a big global promotion for Samsung's new flagship TV and was a lot of fun to film out at the beach with all the other extras.
