AUCKLAND INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL FESTIVAL - Sunday 20 March, Mount Roskill War Memorial Park
The large Auckland International Cultural Festival features ethnic displays, food, music and dancing from New Zealand's kaleidoscope of immigrant cultures from all over the world. The Romans represented the Roman Empire that ruled a wide range of cultures from Britannia in the frozen north, to Egypt in the sweltering south. We were well received by the curious crowd wanting photos and selfies, and often so crowded that we had to march on with photographers still chasing us. We explained the difference between a Spartan and a Roman to those that had their ancient historical education from the Hollywood movie 300 - "This is ROMA!" A very enjoyable and happy day for all.
